How do I become a Microsoft Certified Professional?

I am from the Philippines and I do not have an IT background, but I would want to get into the IT industry. My friend recommended that I become certified as an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional). I checked out the website of Microsoft, and there were many requirements which I obviously find complicated. In simpler sense, how do I get started in becoming an MCP?

2. Many people will earn their MCP by taking ONE test for the Microsoft XP operating system. The test is the 70-270. You can however choose from other tests such as the 70-290 which covers the Microsoft Server 2003 Operating System.
